OHC Opens Oklahoma Writers Exhibit (Oct 19, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A new exhibit at the Oklahoma History Center will examine the history and significance of Oklahoma writers.

The exhibit will open on Oct. 25. It will focus on a number of different kinds of writers, including historians, journalists, playwrights, screen writers, novelists, poets and songwriters.

The center will rotate artifacts over the next two years to keep the exhibit fresh and expand its outreach. It also plans a series of lectures.

The center has partnered with the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa to launch an online database celebrating 50 authors.

Among authors featured in the exhibit will be novelists Edna Ferber, who wrote ``Cimarron'' in 1929, and John Steinbeck, author of ``The Grapes of Wrath'' in 1939.
