State Chamber Will Release Supreme Court Ratings (Oct 22, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma State Chamber says it will issue its rating system for Oklahoma Supreme Court justices based on their rulings in civil liability cases.

The chamber says it plans to publicize its ratings ahead of the Nov. 6 election.

The organization has rated justices on whether their decisions lean toward broadening or restricting civil liability.

Some attorneys told the Tulsa World that the rating system is flawed. Tulsa attorney Ted Sherwood says the chamber is evaluating justices on whether they ruled for or against big business.

Four justices are on the Oklahoma ballot on Nov. 6. They are Justices Noma D. Gurich, Yvonne Kauger, James E. Edmondson and Douglas L. Combs.

The Oklahoma Bar Association has created its own website to provide information about judges.
