Lucas Confident Heading Into Election (Oct 22, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Republican U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas is confident heading into the Nov. 6 general election as he faces two opponents to his bid for an 11th term.

Democrat Timothy Ray Murray of Moore and independent William Matthew Sanders of Stillwater face Lucas for the U.S. House seat in the sprawling 3rd Congressional District.

Lucas - who is chairman of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee - says he knows he could always be defeated - but says he believes his track record shows he returns to Oklahoma and stays abreast of what's important in the state.

Murray says he believes elected Republicans have let down their voters by not yet approving a farm bill and failing to vote on a jobs bill. Sanders, a former Republican, wants to focus on energy.
