Devon Tower Officially Dedicated (Oct 23, 2012) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett are among dozens of dignitaries who helped to officially dedicate the Devon Tower, the state's tallest building. The nearly 850-foot Devon Tower has been open for several months, but Tuesday's invitation-only commemoration ceremony included more than 300 dignitaries and special guests. Devon Energy Corp.'s Executive Chairman and company co-founder Larry Nichols presided over the ceremony. The 1.8 million-square-foot complex in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City is the corporate headquarters for Devon - an independent oil and natural gas production company. An estimated 2,200 employees and contractors report to work daily at the 50-story facility. The complex includes a 285-seat auditorium, a park, two restaurants, a coffee shop and the tower. Construction on the $750 million tower began in 2009. « back |
