Indian Times: Jari Askins to be honored at Red Feather Gala (Oct 26, 2012)
This week on Indian Times we speak to David Toahty from the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic about the Red Feather Gala next Saturday, November 3rd. It’s a benefit fundraiser and has become an annual event for Oklahoma City.  There will be a "Live Paint" featuring Bunky Echohawk and Micah Wesley, also live and silent auction.  For the last two years, a person who has been an advocate for Native Americans is given an award. Former honorees have been Governor Brad Henry and Mrs Henry, and Harold Hamm. This year its former Lt. Governor Jari Askins.  For ticket information call  David Toahty at the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic at 948-4900, extension 483. The Red Feather Gala will be held at the Cox Convention Center.
November is Native American Heritage Month and OETA is kicking it off on November 1st with a documentary called "Jim Thorpe: The Worlds Greatest Athlete”, it will air at 8pm on Thursday.
