Shannon Addresses Court Records (Dec 13, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Grady County court records show an arrest warrant was issued in 2003 for incoming House Speaker T.W. Shannon for failing to pay fines associated with a speeding ticket and for driving under suspension.

The Republican from Lawton said Thursday he was never aware there were any outstanding fines and that he immediately took care of the matter after learning about it from reporters. Court records show $290 was paid to the Grady County Court Clerk's Office on Thursday.

Shannon said he was ticketed for speeding in 2002, but didn't pay the associated fines before a deadline, which resulted in the suspension of his driver's license. Shannon said he never learned his license was suspended until he received a second ticket in 2003, and that he immediately got his license reinstated.
