Puerto Rican Prison Officials in Fatal Okla. Crash (Jan 10, 2013) STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two Puerto Rican prison officials and a Perkins woman were killed in a head-on collision between Stillwater and Perkins. Trooper Betsy Randolph says a vehicle crossed the center line of Oklahoma 177 about 5 a.m. Thursday and collided with the van carrying the officials to the Cimarron Prison Facility in Cushing. The OHP says 49-year-old Michell Marie Anastasia of Perkins and 54-year-old Mayra Ramirez and 35-year-old Eliezer Colon Claussells - both of Puerto Rico - were killed while two others in the van were seriously injured. The prison owned by Corrections Corporation of America has a contract with the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections. CCA spokesman Steve Owen said the officials going were to pick up an inmate or inmates being released from the prison. « back |
