Man Seeks Case Dismissal in Tulsa Slayings of 3 (Jan 11, 2013)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Attorneys for one of two men charged in an April 2012 shooting rampage in Tulsa that left three black people dead and two more wounded say authorities never had probable cause to arrest their client.

The claim is made in a document filed Friday in Tulsa District Court by public defenders for Alvin Watts, who wants his case dismissed.

The 33-year-old Watts is charged along with 20-year-old Jake England in the shooting deaths of William Allen, Bobby Clark and Dannaer Fields, who were killed as they walked near their homes in a predominantly black section of Tulsa. The pair also face hate crime charges in the killings.

Both men have pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors announced last week they would seek the death penalty against England and Watts.
