Air Traffic Increases at Will Rogers Airport (Jan 14, 2013)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Official say passenger traffic at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City increased in 2012, but the airport's not at the level it was five years ago.

The Journal Record reports that 1.84 million people boarded planes in 2012. That's an increase of 58,000 people - or 3.3 percent - from 2011. Officials say the busiest month was July, when 173,000 people boarded flights.

Airports Director Mark Kranenburg says the airport is growing ``at a healthy rate,'' and notes that officials forecast an increase of 1.8 percent for 2012.

The airport still struggles to rebound to 2007 levels when there were 1.86 million enplanements.

Officials say the airport has retained most of its flights, despite cuts by airlines. United Airlines will add a direct flight to Cleveland next month.
