House GOP Releases Legislative Plan (Jan 31, 2013)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Republican House Speaker T.W. Shannon says the creation of a new eight-year plan for repairing and replacing state owned assets will be among the top priorities for the House Republicans during the upcoming legislative session.

Leaders in the new 72-member strong House Republican caucus discussed some of their top priorities Thursday during a press conference at the state Capitol.

While short on specifics, members said changes to the state's pension and workers' compensation systems, tax cuts and increased funding for education will be among their goals. The legislative session begins Monday.

The chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Scott Martin of Norman, says he plans to introduce a bill calling for a one-quarter of 1 percent cut in the state's top income tax rate.
