Healthcare Investigation Proposal Advances (Feb 20, 2013)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma Senate committee has approved a bill calling for an investigation into the state's care of people who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare.

The bill by Republican Sen. Kim David of Porter cleared the Senate Committee on Appropriations without opposition Wednesday and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

The proposal would set up a study by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority into the state's current care coordination to see if those models could be improved or streamlined and costs could be contained while protecting the goals of the programs.

The OHCA says nearly 110,000 Oklahomans were eligible for both programs last month.

The bill calls for the study to be completed by December.
