This week the Oklahoma Gazette's Joe Wertz reports on two somewhat related metro offerings... “Wiener Takes All: A Dogumentary” takes a comedic look at a group of people who take dog racing very, very seriously. The film, directed by Canadian comedian Shane MacDougall, showcases the 2003 through 2005 Southern California dachshund racing circuit where the national ‘Wiener’ dog racing competition takes place each year. Screenings are today through Sunday at the Oklahoma City Museum Of Art in downtown Oklahoma City. For more information call 236-3100.

Those who might be moved to wittness, first-hand, an actual ‘Wiener Dog’ race should know that the annual Dachshund Dash is scheduled for this Sunday, May 18. This event starts at 1 p.m. at the Cox Pavillion at Oklahoma State Fair Park. The 'Dash' is sponsored by the Oklahoma Gazette and serves as a benefit for Best Friends of Shelter Pets.
