Indian Times: Toward Resolution for the Cherokee Freedmen (Mar 22, 2008)
On Indian Times, KGOU's Kurt Gwartney reports on the recent meeting between the BIA and four members of Congress concerning the Cherokee Nation Freedmen. Also, Susan Shannon spoke with Candessa Morgan, coordinator for the upcoming Native Language Fair at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman on March 31 and April 1. The fair is aimed at Oklahoma?s native schoolchildren, with competitions in spoken language, film and video projects, and poster art, all featuring a native language. And, an Oklahoma Caddo woman, Geraldine Redcorn, has been chosen to represent the Newberry Library in a ceremony at the White House.
