Indian Times: One Hundred Summers, A Kiowa Calendar Record (May 04, 2009)
This week on Indian Times, we focus on the new exhibit at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman. It is called ?One Hundred Summers, A Kiowa Calendar Record.? This calendar begins in the year 1828 and ends in 1929. It is an unprecedented look at Kiowa life from the inside, and the name of the man who created it is Silver Horn (1860-1940). He was a respected artist during his lifetime and came from a family of calendar keepers. We speak with his great-grandson, who is presently Chairman of the Kiowa Tribe, Don Tofpi. We also hear from author Candace Greene, her book that goes hand in hand with this exhibition ?One Hundred Summers, A Kiowa Calendar Record.? Her previous work was ?Silver Horn, Master Illustrator of the Kiowas.? Tofpi and Greene are pictured above.

The 4th installment of the PBS series ?We Shall Remain? airs on OETA Monday night at 8pm. This episode is about the legendary Apache warrior Geronimo.
