Oklahoma Voices: Young Chickasaw Composers release CD (Aug 15, 2010)
On Oklahoma Voices, host Susan Shannon interviews Jarod Impichchaachaaha Tate, composer-in-residence for the Chickasaw Nation along with two of his students, Amanda Shackelford and Cruise Berry. Shackelford and Berry, along with 9 other young Chickasaw composers, released a CD of their original compositions, the CDs name is Oshtali, a Chickasaw word that means to divide into 4 parts. Which is very apropos because their classical compositions were performed by the string quartet ETHEL. ETHEL is comprised of Julliard trained performers: Cornelius Dufallo, Ralph Farris, Dorothy Lawson and Mary Rowell
