A Conversation with Oklahoma Native Author N. Scott Momaday (May 23, 2006)
Kiowa author and poet N. Scott Momaday is best known for his Pulitzer Prize winning novel House Made of Dawn. In fact, he was the first Native American writer to receive a Pulitzer. But in addition to his literary success, Momaday is also a gifted painter, who uses the tools of the brush and the canvas to – in his words – “preserve cultural memory through the visual voice.” KGOU’s Susan Shannon speaks with Momaday about an exhibit of his work currently on display at the Jacobson House Native Art Center in Norman (4:00).
