2009 NCAI State of Indian Nations address (Feb 15, 2009)
NCAI President Joe A. Garcia delivered the 8th annual State of Indian Nations Address Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The speech coincided with the release of Indian Country’s annual budget document requesting funds for tribal programs and projects. Among this year's primary topics: Indian Country’s priorities for the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress; economic development; health care; the protection of American Indian tribal sovereignty; homeland security; and the many other issues currently facing Indian nations.
