GOP Tide Not Guaranteed (Nov 01, 2010)

Oklahoma's Republican chairman says the GOP shouldn't be too comfortable with the thought that they'll capture the governor's office and both houses of the Legislature. Republicans are expected to make gains, riding a wave of discontent with Democrats in Washington, D.C.

But Oklahoma GOP chairman Matt Pinnell recalls the 2002 governor's race, in which a favored Steve Largent was upset by Democrat Brad Henry, who won beat the congressman and NFL Hall of Famer by less than one percent of the vote.

Henry is at the end of his second term. Running to replace him are Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin and Democratic Lt. Gov. Jari

Askins. Pinnell is telling Republicans to take nothing for granted.
