Cleveland County Jail Tax Exceeds Expectations (Nov 05, 2010)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — A tax to build a new jail in Cleveland County has brought in $10.4 million since it was instituted in April 2009.

A county commissioner says the quarter-cent tax has generated an average of about $611,000 a month, which he says has exceeded expectations.

He says county officials have not discussed when the tax might end.
