New Temperature Record Set in OKC (Nov 25, 2010)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A new record temperature has been set in Oklahoma City.

The National Weather Service says the high temperature at Will Rogers World Airport reached 79 degrees Wednesday afternoon. That's three degrees warmer than on Nov. 24, 2006, when the temperature topped out at 76 degrees.

Temperatures were above average across most of Oklahoma ahead of the arrival of a strong, winter-like storm system.

Highs are expected to only range from the low 30s in the Oklahoma Panhandle to the upper 50s in far southeastern Oklahoma on Thursday. Forecasters say there is a chance that snow flurries could fall in the Panhandle and light freezing rain may occur briefly in northeastern Oklahoma.

Lows should tumble into the teens and 20s Thursday night.
