Tribeca Film Festival to premiere film about Okie Rock Legend (Mar 08, 2011)

NORMAN - The Tribeca Film Festival, known for primarily for launching young up-and-coming film makers, is set to premiere a new documentary on Elton John and his recent collaboration with Leon Russell. Cameron Crowe’s The Union will open the 10th edition of the Tribecca Film Festival on Wednesday, April 20th in New York.

The Union offers an “unprecedented” glimpse into Elton John’s creative process during the writing and recording of the album of the same title. Begun in 2009, the film highlights the efforts and energies of album collaborators, T-Bone Burnett and Leon Russell – Elton’s “early-career idol”. Also appearing in the film are fellow music-makers, Stevie Nicks and Don Was. According to festival promoters Cameron Crowe’s film offers a “captivating and exhilarating real-life experience of musical creation and generosity”.

A performance by Elton John will follow the free, outdoor screening.
