Continental Resources Relocating to OKC (Mar 21, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Continental Resources Inc. says it plans to move its corporate headquarters from Enid to Oklahoma City.

The independent oil and natural gas producer said Monday it hopes to complete the move by the second half of 2012. CEO Harold Hamm says moving to Oklahoma's largest city is part of the company's growth strategy to triple in size during the next five years.

Continental Resources has about 250 full-time employees in Enid, which has a population of about 47,000. City Manager Eric Benson says he understands why Continental Resources is moving but that it will pose an economic challenge for Enid.

In Oklahoma City, Continental Resources has acquired an office building now occupied by Devon Energy Corp., which plans to move into a 50-story office tower that's under construction.
