Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss DA From Case (May 31, 2011) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Garfield County judge has denied a request by an Oklahoma County judge to have the district attorney prosecuting her case removed. District Judge Paul Woodward rejected the motion by Tammy Bass-LeSure during a hearing on Monday. Woodward was assigned to handle the motion because other Oklahoma County judges recused themselves from the case. Bass-LeSure and her husband, Karlos, are charged with making a fraudulent claim against the state and perjury for allegedly taking payments for children they adopted who don't live with them. Both deny any wrongdoing. Bass-LeSure alleges the criminal case against her is the result of an ongoing dispute between her and DA David Prater. Prater denies he has any personal animosity toward Bass-LeSure. Woodward has rescheduled Bass-LeSure's hearing for July 22 and July 26. « back |
