UPDATE: 400+ Still Without Power in Norman (Jun 16, 2011)

Oklahoma Gas and Electric still reports 536 customers without power in Norman and Oklahoma City after Tuesday's severe thunderstorms brought strong, damaging winds to Central Oklahoma.

OG&E says about 70 distribution poles and 36 transmission structures went down during the late evening storm, with tree damage causing additional power problems. About 30,000 customers were affected on 16 different electrical circuits that were knocked off-line in Norman.

OG&E has set up two separate walk-up centers in Norman for customers still without power. One is located at the Hobby Lobby on Main Street and 24th Ave. Northwest. The other is at Harbor Freight on 12th Ave. Northeast and Alameda Street.

OG&E is also offering dry ice to preserve food in refrigerators and freezers for Norman and Noble customers. The ice is available for pickup from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Airgas at 2505 North Purdue in South Oklahoma City.

Power outages can still be reported by calling (405)272-9595.
