OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Low-income Oklahomans are eligible to receive up to $250 to help offset higher utility bills this summer under a federal program administered by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

DHS officials announced Wednesday that about $22 million in federal funding is available through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The money is designed to help poor families that are particularly vulnerable to summer heat.Households that already receive public assistance through DHS do not need to make an application.

A one-person household that earns a net income of $1,174 a month is eligible for up to $200. Households of two or more people may receive up to $250. The eligibility threshold for a family of four is $2,389 in monthly net income.
