Corn Decides Not to Run for 2nd District Seat (Aug 10, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Former state Sen. Kenneth Corn says he will not run for the Democratic nomination for the open 2nd Congressional District being vacated by U.S. Rep. Dan Boren.

Corn said late Tuesday he would not run for the post, following the death of his mother late last month.

Boren is the only Democrat in Oklahoma's congressional delegation. He announced this summer he would not seek a fifth term in the district that covers 26 counties across eastern Oklahoma.

Several Republican candidates are running for the seat, but no Democrats have officially announced. Former state Sen. Ben Robinson, current state Sen. Jim Wilson and former LeFlore County District Attorney Rob Wallace all have said they're considering running for the Democratic nomination.
