State: 91 Workers Killed in Oklahoma in 2010 (Sep 30, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Department of Labor says 91 people in the state died on the job last year.

Officials say 24 of those deaths came in construction and extraction occupations. Another 23 were in transportation and material moving.

The total number of deaths is slightly higher than in 2009, when 77 people were found to have died in work-related incidents.

Just about half of last year's deaths involved people between the ages of 35 and 54. Seven of the deaths were connected to assaults or violent acts on the job.
