Federal Study Cites Oklahoma Kennel Cruelty (Nov 28, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A federal report shows evidence of cruelty at Oklahoma dog breeding facilities and the leader of a state board says Oklahoma legislators need to regulate the practice.

The Tulsa World reported Monday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture report contains graphic images from Oklahoma kennels and details instances of abuse.

Oklahoma Commercial Pet Breeders Board Chairman Angel Soriano says the state needs to regulate breeding operations.

The USDA reviewed the kennels to test how the federal Animal Welfare Act was being enforced at licensed pet breeders and brokerages.
