OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma has fallen to 48th in the nation in a group's state health rankings, a drop it attributes to a greater number of children living in poverty and other causes.

The United Health Foundation on Tuesday announced that Oklahoma fell two spots from last year's ranking of 46th.

The organization, which is sponsored by health insurer UnitedHealth Group, takes a variety measures to determine its rankings.

In addition to a greater proportion of children living in poverty, the study found more adults with diabetes and obesity. The study also says there's a continued prevalence in smoking among Oklahomans.

The state Health Department says it is working to drive smoking rates lower and take other steps to improve the health of state residents.
