Voters to Decide Open Okla. House, Senate Posts (Feb 13, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The deaths of two lawmakers and the departure of two others for jobs in the private sector have thrown open four seats in the Oklahoma Legislature.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday for primary elections for Senate District 20 in north-central Oklahoma and House District 71 in Tulsa. Special general elections will be held in Senate District 46 in Oklahoma City and House District 1 in McCurtain County in far southeast Oklahoma.

Voters also will decide races for school board and other county and municipal offices in districts across the state.

For some voters, it will be the first election since a new law went into effect last year requiring voters to show proof of identification before voting. Election officials say the elections also will feature new ballots.
