Indian Times: Native Americans rank 3rd in nation for contracting HIV/AIDS (Mar 31, 2012)

This week on Indian Times we speak with Dr Daniel Molina, assistant medical director of the Oklahoma City Indian Health Clinic.  March 20th was National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.  What was once considered a death sentence nowadays people feel we are controlling and dealing with HIV/AIDS, but this may not be the case for native peoples in their small communities.  Dr. Molina talks about the continuing stigma for native homosexuals.
Events for OU Native American Heritage Month:
Monday, April 2nd,  Opening ceremonies on South Oval.  Guest speaker will Molly Shi Boren.  Stickball, drumming, singing & native social dancing will follow throughout the day.
16th Annual OU Native American Student/Alumni/Faculty/Staff Art Show will be held at the Jacobson House.  Deadline for art is April 20th and opening reception is Friday April 27th.  For more info call Susan at 325-1133.
