6 Okla. Schools Placed on Low-Performing List (Apr 09, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma State Board of Education has identified six state schools as low-performing and directed the Department of Education to work with the schools to improve student performance.

The board delayed action on a seventh school - Santa Fe South Middle School in Oklahoma City - that was recommended to be added to the list.

Identified as among the lowest performing in the state are Keyes Elementary; Farris K-8; Okay High School; McLain High School in Tulsa; and Shidler Elementary School and Roosevelt Middle School, all in Oklahoma City. The six plus Santa Fe South were identified by evaluators based as have low student achievement.

The board tabled action on Santa Fe South after school Superintendent Chris Brewster complained of inconsistent scoring by the evaluators and discrepancies in the scoring.
