Okla. County Prosecutors Fired for Misconduct (Apr 11, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater says he has fired two assistant prosecutors for withholding evidence from defense attorneys during a recent murder trial.

Prater said in a statement released Wednesday that Pam Kimbrough and Stephanie Miller were fired this past Thursday. Prater said the case is being forwarded to the Oklahoma Bar Association and to the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office for possible additional action.

Prater says Kimbrough and Miller failed to disclose to attorneys for Billy Thompson that a prosecution witness had made a statement to prosecutors that was inconsistent with what the witness had told police. The undisclosed statement to police was used as evidence against Thompson and he was convicted of first-degree murder.

Telephone listings for Kimbrough and Miller couldn't immediately be found Wednesday.
