Del City Police Captain Surrenders (Apr 20, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Del City police captain charged with felony manslaughter for shooting a fleeing teenager in the back has surrendered to authorities and posted $10,000 bond.

Randy Trent Harrison shot 18-year-old Dane Scott Jr. on March 14 after a police chase. Harrison's attorney, Irven Box, said Friday his client is to be arraigned in May.

According to an autopsy report, Scott was shot in the right side of his back and a Taser dart was embedded in his right upper back.

Box says Harrison disarmed Scott, but believed he was possibly reaching for another gun when Harrison shot him.

Capt. Jody Suit said in an affidavit that Scott was unarmed and not posing a threat of death or great bodily harm when he was shot.

Harrison is on paid administrative leave.
