OKC Memorial to Raise $10 million for Facility (May 22, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum has launched a $10 million campaign to provide lasting financial support for the future preservation and growth of the facility.

Officials on Monday announced The 9:03 Fund, which they say will provide permanent funding for the conservation and beautification of the grounds, symbolic structures, and museum. Officials say the fund will enable innovative and interactive program growth, sustained exhibit development and expanded opportunities to teach the importance of understanding and overcoming the impact of violence and terrorism.

The memorial pays tribute to the 168 people who died in the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

The memorial already has received $1 million donations from Devon Energy Corp., the Chickasaw Nation and three others.
