DHS Releases Plan Revisions (Jun 14, 2012) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Department of Human Services has released its revisions to a plan to improve child welfare services. The revisions to the so-called Pinnacle Plan released Thursday include placing all children younger than 2 in a family like setting rather than a group shelter by Dec. 31. The revisions also call for development of a training program for DHS supervisors. The plan is part of a January settlement agreement with the children's advocacy group Children's Rights. The New York based group sued over DHS' treatment of foster children. The proposed revisions now go to a three-person committee of out-of-state child welfare specialists for approval or further modifications. The plan includes increasing the number of foster parents and increasing the reimbursement rate to those who care for foster children. « back |
