Stump Challenges Lucas on Record (Jun 15, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The challenger to Republican Rep. Frank Lucas in the June 26 GOP primary says Lucas isn't conservative enough.

The allegation by William Craig Stump drew a chuckle from the 10-term incumbent in Oklahoma's 3rd Congressional District.

Stump pointed to Lucas' 50 percent voting record on conservative issues as scored by the conservative Heritage Action for America.

Lucas says his votes reflect the goals of the people in the district and that special interest groups on both "the hard right and hard left" don't like that.

Stump says he wants to limit the power of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and reduce U.S. funding of the United Nations.

Lucas - chairman of the House Agriculture Committee - says his goals include a new farm bill, tax cuts and reducing government spending.
