OK Meets Most Gun Screening Requirements (Aug 13, 2012) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A state official says Oklahoma is largely complying with federal record-sharing standards regarding people prohibited from owning a firearm, but there are barriers that keep them from releasing some information. Delynn Fudge with the Oklahoma District Attorney's Council says Oklahoma meets record-sharing standards in nine of 10 categories of people barred from owning guns. But she told The Oklahoman it will take legislative action to circumvent a state law that doesn't allow the release of mental health records. Prosecutors last month accused a Woodward teenager who had been committed to a mental institution of lying on an application to purchase guns. A cab driver says the teen asked him questions about how to hide bodies and avoid extradition after the deadly shootings at a Colorado theater. « back |
