Ziriax Urges Voters to Check Information (Oct 03, 2012)

(Oklahoma City) – With Oklahoma’s October 12 voter registration deadline fast approaching, Oklahoma voters are being urged to check with the Election Board to ensure that their voter registration information on file is correct and up to date, State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said Tuesday.

Now is also a good time for voters who have not voted in an election this year to make sure their polling place did not change from past elections. Precinct assignments changed for thousands of voters following the 2011 redistricting process.

“Am I registered to vote? Is the address on file correct? Am I registered under my married name or my maiden name? Has my polling place changed? These are all important questions voters should be asking now to avoid surprises on Election Day,” Ziriax said.

Voters with Internet access can use the Polling Place Locator on the State Election Board’s website ( to answer most of these questions. Voters can access their basic voter registration information by entering their last name, birthdate, and the zip code at the address where they are registered to vote.

Voters without Internet access or who have questions can also contact their County Election Board directly. (The contact information for the 77 County Election Boards is here:

The deadline to register to vote for the General Election is Friday, October 12.

Voter registration applications are available online ( and at election board offices, tag agencies and most libraries, post offices, military recruiting offices and public assistance offices. For more information about voter registration, contact your County Election Board or visit the State Election Board’s website.

The voter registration application is also used by voters to submit updates to their voter registration.
