Norman City Council Votes for Bullying Resolution (Oct 25, 2012)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A Norman council member voted against a resolution that declared October as National Bullying Prevention Month in the city.

Councilman Dave Spaulding didn't offer a reason after his Tuesday vote.

The Norman Transcript and The Oklahoman reported that the measure passed with the eight other members of the council voting in the affirmative.

Norman Schools Superintendent Joe Siano and Police Chief Keith Humphrey both spoke in favor of the resolution, with Siano saying bullying is an issue in the district and across the country.

The chief said the resolution would help make combatting bullying a priority in Norman.

Spaulding didn't return a phone call seeking comment.
