Heavy Turnout Reported in Early Voting (Nov 05, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Heavy turnout is reported in Oklahoma for early voting in advance of the general election.

State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said Monday that it's too early to predict the number of early voters - but says waits of 90 minutes or more have been reported.

The state has just more than 2.1 million registered voters.

Election Board secretaries in Oklahoma and Tulsa counties - the state's two largest counties - also report strong turnout.

Doug Sanderson in Oklahoma County says there have been about 8,200 early votes cast while Patty Bryant reports about 6,000 votes in Tulsa County.

Early voting continues at each of the state's 77 county election boards until 6 p.m. Monday. Voters who are in line at 6 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
