Pruitt Accepts Fed Judgement on Immigration Law (Dec 19, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have agreed to accept federal appeals court's judgment concerning the state's anti-illegal immigrant law.

Pruitt and the Chamber filed motions in federal court to accept a 2010 ruling by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that blocked enforcement of parts of the law but upheld other parts. Online court records show a judgment ending the legal battle was signed Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Robin Cauthron.

The law was passed by the state Legislature in 2007. It was challenged in 2008 by the Chamber and other pro-business groups. The appeals court struck down parts of the law but said the state can direct employers to a federal database of workers eligible to work in the U.S.
