Body of Former Okla. City Mayor to Lie in Repose (Jan 02, 2013)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The body of former Oklahoma City Mayor Patience Latting will lie in repose inside City Hall.

City officials said Latting's body will be on the second floor of City Hall Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Latting died Saturday at the age of 94. Her funeral will be held Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City.

First elected in 1971, Latting was the first female elected mayor in a U.S. city with more than 350,000 residents, and she served three consecutive terms until 1983.

Current Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett described her as a ``visionary and a trailblazer for accountability'' in city government.

A bust of Latting was set up inside City Hall in 2005, and a city library was named in her honor earlier this year.
