Norman to Institute Mandatory Odd/Even Watering (Jan 11, 2013)

NORMAN, Okla. - Starting Monday, the City of Norman plans to institute mandatory water conservation efforts.

95 percent of Oklahoma is under either Extreme or Exceptional Drought conditions, with Norman falling under the slightly less-severe Extreme category.

Approximately two-thirds of Norman's water supply comes from Lake Thunderbird, which the city says is currently 7 ½ feet below the normal pool elevation and is on track to meet and exceed the historical record low level set in 2006.

The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center says there's no sign the drought conditions will let up through at least the Spring of 2013.
